FALLOW DEER

The Fallow Deer is a native European deer. They have been farmed for almost 2000 years in Europe.

Bucks stand about 37" tall. The males (bucks) weigh from 175-225 pounds and the smaller females (does) weigh between 80-90 pounds.

The fallow deer are found in four main color patterns: Chestnut with white spots; light creamy brown with white spots; white (creamy colored) and chocolate. All four color patterns are found in our herd.

We have breeding stock for sale and we also raise the deer for venison. Venison is lower in fat and cholesterol than pork or beef. Fallow deer have long been sought after for their massive antlers, their beautiful spotted coats, and their tasty venison.

The bucks have large palmated antlers. "John’s" antlers are in the velvet stage in this picture. Yearling bucks only grow ‘spikes’ the first year. Does do not have antlers. The buck’s antlers are shed each spring and another larger set grows back again before fall.

Some of our does. If they are born with spots, they keep the spots for their entire life. The babies (fawns) are born in June. The fawns are tiny weighing between 8 and 10 pounds.
